Worthington Claims Club Sweep Victory at Ballymena Golf Club
Clifford Worthington produced an excellent round of 40 points to claim victory in the latest Club Sweep at Ballymena Golf Club, finishing three points clear of his nearest challengers.
Worthington (14) made a strong start to his round with three consecutive pars before bogeying the par-three fourth hole. He recovered with another par at the fifth before dropping two shots at the sixth and a further shot at the seventh.
A birdie at the eighth and a par at the ninth helped Worthington reach the
halfway stage with an impressive 22 points.
His back nine began with a par at the tenth, although he dropped three shots across the following two holes. Worthington steadied his round with a par at the fourteenth before playing the next four holes to handicap and closing with a par to secure a winning total of 40 points.
Lorimer Secures Second Place on Countback
John Lorimer (12) claimed second place with 37 points after a closely contested battle with John Crawford (15), who also finished on 37.
Lorimer began with two bogeys before recording pars at the third and fourth holes. Further bogeys at the fifth and sixth were followed by a par at the seventh and two more bogeys, leaving him with 18 points at the turn.
His back nine started positively with consecutive pars before he played the following three holes to handicap. Despite a double bogey at the fifteenth, Lorimer finished strongly with a bogey and two pars to secure second place on countback.
Crawford had looked well placed after recording 20 points on his front nine, but three double bogeys on the back nine restricted him to a further 17 points, leaving him third overall.

Barr Takes Gross Honours
Adam Barr produced the best gross round of the competition with an excellent one-under-par 67, featuring birdies at the third, fifth and ninth holes.
Steven Smyth finished runner-up in the gross category.
A total of 139 players competed, with just 12 twos recorded throughout the day. Notably, no twos were registered at the sixteenth hole.

Next week sees another Club Sweep at Ballymena Golf Club, once again played in the Stableford format.
