Weekly Results: Wade Claims Harry Harper as McQuillan Wins Wilson’s of Rathkenny Event

Another excellent week of competition at Ballymena Golf Club saw the prestigious Harry Harper reach its conclusion, while some outstanding scoring featured in the Wilson’s of Rathkenny sponsored stroke competition.

Campbell Wade Wins the Harry Harper

The third and final round of the Harry Harper was restricted to the leading qualifiers following the opening two rounds.

Clifford Worthington began the day with a three-shot advantage on 129, with joint leader Paul Rodgers unfortunately unavailable for the final round. However, a superb final round from Campbell Wade (19) completely changed the standings.

Starting four shots behind Worthington, Wade produced an excellent net 61 to surge to the top of the leaderboard. He played the front nine in seven over gross before completing a strong back nine in five over, despite a double bogey at the closing hole.

David Chambers (19) also mounted a strong final-day challenge, returning an impressive net 62 to move into second place overall.

After all three rounds were totalled, the final Harry Harper standings were:

1st – Campbell Wade (19) – 1942nd – David Chambers (19) – 1983rd – Clifford Worthington (15) – 198

The remaining overall prizes went to Connor O’Dornan (202), Jonny Lynn (202), Kenny Morrison (204), John Lorimer (207) and Richard Mark (208).

McQuillan Takes Wilson’s of Rathkenny Event

The Wilson’s of Rathkenny sponsored stroke competition produced some exceptional scoring, with three players finishing on net 59.

Ciaran McQuillan (13) came out on top following a superb round. He was just one over gross through his opening nine before completing the back nine in three over, giving him an outstanding net 59.

Darren McCaig (25) also returned a net 59 to claim second place, while Thomas Lindsay (30) completed the trio on 59 to take third.

The remaining prizes went to Raymond Scullion (61), Kieran Hogarth (64), Ryan McCartney (64), Dean Brown (65) and John Marshall (65).

Kieran McGaughey claimed the gross prize with a four-over-par 72, edging Ciaran McQuillan on countback after McQuillan also recorded a 72.
