Nigel Douglas (15) had the best score of the day at Ballymena Golf Club with an impressive 33 points. Paired with Club Captain William Owens and four down after four to their opponents, who were loudly and prematurely proclaiming victory, Douglas, ably assisted by his illustrious partner, tied the fifth and won all of the remaining eight holes to take the spoils and silence the opposition, as far as that is possible. Douglas’s own card had got off to a steady start with three bogeys before he had his only double bogey of the day on the par three fourth. A bogey on the fifth was followed by a par on the sixth, a birdie on the seventh, and another par on the eighth before Douglas closed his opening nine with a bogey for 22 points. Douglas continued his hot streak with three points at each of the tenth, eleventh and thirteenth holes with a further two points gained at the twelfth for an overall win and to top a competitive Division 4. Second place in this category went to Brian Russell (16) who finished just one back on 32 points with a very steady round which included four pars and eight bogeys.

John McCann (7) won Division 1 with 30 points. McCann started with four pars before having a double bogey on the par four fifth hole but these would be his only dropped shots of the front nine as he parred the remaining four  holes to reach the tenth tee box on two over gross. The back four was of equal standard with his only dropped shot coming on the twelfth hole which left him three over gross and top of his Division. Second place in this category went to David Leetch (5) who finished with 28 points in a very steady round which included a birdie on the finishing hole.

Millar Eagleson (11) proved he was over his recent illness and ready for the Christmas Pantomime with a narrow win in Division 2 with 29 points. Eagleson started his round with a bogey on the first, a par on the second and a run of four bogeys. Eagleson then parred the next four holes before having a double bogey on the eleventh, a bogey on the twelfth and a crucial par on the closing hole to pip fellow Pasadena member Ryan Daly (8) on the countback. Daly also finished on 29 points with the high point being the run of holes from the fourth to the sixth which he covered in a total of nine shots.

Nigel Thompson (11) won Division 3 with 29 points. Thompson started with a bogey on the first, a par on the second, a bogey on the third and another par on the fourth. A bogey on the fifth was followed by a par on the sixth, a bogey on the seventh and a double bogey on the eighth. Thompson then bogeyed the ninth to record 19 points for the front nine. A strong back nine of three pars and a closing bogey would prove enough for a category win. Second in this category was Allan Campbell (14) who finished on 28 points in a round which included five pars.

There were only six twos recorded with Bruce McKenzie the only player to register at the second hole and no player managing to record one at the tenth.
